Whitfield Funeral Homes join Rollings Funeral Service, Inc.
Baldwin, GA –Whitfield Funeral Homes and Crematory and Yonah Memorial Gardens, Inc. was purchased in November by Rollings Funeral Service, Inc. Whitfield Funeral Homes, located in Demorest and Baldwin Georgia, have been a part of Habersham County since 1971. Formerly known as Whitfield-Perkins Funeral Home, the funeral home was located on South Main Street in Baldwin, after Swenson Perkins death, Larry & Evie Whitfield built a new facility and moved to their present location on Industrial Blvd, Baldwin.
In June of 1999, the Whitfield’s purchased the Habersham Memorial Chapel and re-branded it as the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, in order to better serve the entire county. John Whitfield, Larry and Evie’s son, took over management of the firms in 2010 and also purchased the Yonah Memorial Gardens perpetual care cemetery, adjacent to the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, in Demorest.
Larry, a former president of the Georgia Funeral Director’s Association, and John, decided to explore succession options in 2018, and eventually chose Rollings Funeral Service, as the best successor.
NewBridge Group represented Greg Rollings in the transaction. Rollings stated “I have been friends with the Whitfields for many years so it is a great honor to join our businesses and to be able to continue the Whitfield family tradition of providing great service to the Habersham County community.”
With more than 30 locations, Rollings Funeral Service is one of the largest private funeral home owners in the eastern United States. Rollings has plans to continue to be very active in acquisitions, giving retiring owners a great alternative to selling to a publicly traded company.
